“Midnight Glow” is a young dark skinned woman that emanates from a pitch black background. Her melanin contrast the midnight black of her surroundings.
She is wearing a glowing gold gele on her head that takes on a life of its own, spreading outwards.

I use oil paints to depict the face of the woman in this portrait.
To depict this particular gele (African head dress) I use a formwork of board, mesh and apply plaster gauze. I then add gold pigmented powder for the finish. I stick everything down with a combination of UHU and PVA glue.
Each painting arrives unframed.
I suggest looking into floating frames (L shaped) which allow the painting to sit neatly flush with the frame. Additionally, the gele head dress still emerges from the bounds of the rectangular shape, creating a larger than life feel.
